Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Finance Operations and Procurement, the Buyer will assist in developing and implementing strategic supplier relationships and contracts by working with managing cross-functional teams to develop robust business cases, RFI, RFQ and/or RFP packages; evaluate proposals; and select successful bidders. Provide leadership and expertise regarding procurement standards, product types, negotiation strategies, industry practices, relevant law, application of campus policies and contract issues. Develop and promote policies, standards, practices, procedures, templates, and other essentials of an effective and strategic acquisition process.

Works directly with supervisor regarding Ecommerce to ensure compatibility of all department initiatives and business objectives. Qualified candidate will establish and maintain strategic and successful relationships with co-workers, internal customers, outside suppliers and other business partners. This position is also responsible for collaborating with Higher Ed Consortiums in order to identify consortium contracts which can be implemented at the College. Candidate should have proven record of professional experience and in procurement management practices.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree is required, three to five years of experience in procurement in a higher education or not-for-profit environment preferred. Certification by a recognized Procurement or Sourcing Association preferred.

Candidate should exhibit an exceptional customer service orientation and strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Individual should also have demonstarted record of a strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Candidate must possess a positive attitude, be team oriented, quality driven and of the highest integrity.
