Position Summary:
Reporting to the President, the Assistant to the President is an advisor to the President and works with the Senior Leadership team in the planning, integration and implementation of goals and priorities in support of the College’s mission. S/he will ensure the cultivation of respectful relationships with both the College community and external constituents. Provides oversight for the President’s Office and President’s House. The Assistant to the President advances initiatives and collaborates on a variety of institutional objectives.

Primary Position Responsibilities:
• Manages projects from the President’s Office, designing processes to guide the work toward expected outcomes.
• Responds to and meets with a broad range of internal and external constituents. S/he provides the President with context and background information on topics and coordinates any preparatory research and analysis.
• Assists with the coordination of internal meetings, creating agendas, reports and presentation materials.
• Responds verbally and in writing to various constituents of the President’s Office in collaboration with the Office of Public Information and Communications.
• S/he brings leadership and planning expertise to discrete projects based on institutional needs.
• Convenes and supports cross-functional ad hoc committees that support Presidential initiatives and projects.
• Supervises and partners closely with the Executive Assistant to the President, responsible for the President’s calendar, meetings and travel and the President’s Office Coordinator.
• Supervises the President’s House staff to ensure the efficient and effective running of the President’s House. Liaise with appropriate departments to ensure events are professionally managed and executed. Develop goals and time lines to organize projects.

• Takes minutes at Senior Leadership meetings and arranges follow up as needed. Provides background materials and produces follow up documents.
• Serves as a resource for internal and external questions. Establish trust and maintain collegial relationships with various individuals and groups.
• Maintain a high degree of discretion, professionalism, integrity and commitment to serving all of the College’s constituents.
• Cross-trained and provides coverage for scheduling and travel in the absence of the Assistant to the President and as necessary.


Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree required.

This position supervises the Executive Assistant to the President, President’s Office Coordinator, President’s House staff

Experience Required:
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible administrative or related experience. Candidates who possess the qualities and experiences the College seeks will likely come from higher education and/or have prior experience working in collaboration with senior leadership.
